Construction will be complete and operations are expected to commence by year-end 2027.
The project will create approximately 1000 jobs during construction. Hiring will ramp up over the approximately 2-year construction timeframe. The project aims to provide local job opportunities to qualified candidates wherever possible.
The EPC provider, SOLV, will collaborate with local unions to facilitate hiring opportunities in compliance with applicable labor laws and agreements. Per state tax and project contractual requirements, employees working on the construction of the facility will be paid at least 175 percent of the average statewide hourly wage and will receive health insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents.
Construction-related vehicles and workers traveling to and from the site will temporarily increase traffic. Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions to the community, including set hours for workers to travel to and from the site and encouraging carpooling.
SB Energy has a track record of improving roads where we operate. Road improvements will be made before, during, and after construction. This will include widening, stabilizing, and maintaining roads used during construction and final paving of the main access road once construction is completed.
SB Energy is committed to protecting communities and minimizing impacts during construction across all our projects. In compliance with local and federal permits, the project will follow best practices during construction for dust suppression, implement traffic management plans, and enforce work-hour restrictions to limit disruptions to the community.
No water will be used to generate electricity during operations, and minimal water will be used during construction for dust suppression.
The project has a Power Purchase Agreement with NV Energy to help serve the energy needs of its Nevada customers. The power will connect to the electric grid in Lyon County and flow to the nearest connected loads, including Mineral and Lyon Counties, as well as other areas of Nevada.
